Boots up with tone. 4 dashes across display. Buttons unresponsive.

First check to make sure you have a green LED on the ETAC.
If you do, the problem may be in the keypad itself or more likely a wiring problem to the keypad. Since it shows dashes, then the power and negative are good, so the problem would be in the communication wires.
Ohm out the wires from the controller to the keypad. If they are OK, replace the keypad. If the neither of those is the problem, it could be the ETAC. You would really need a laptop with the diag. software to be sure.
