Electric Caterpillar model EC25EN 5,000 pound capacity forklift has a vibration and humming noise you can feel in the seat. Driver can hear it even when in the warehouse. You can actually feel it in the seat of your pants and on the floor in your feet. Does not seem to change the faster you go or anything like that.
At first we thought it was a power steering noise, but it does not change when turning the wheel at all.
The forklift is just out of warranty so I am looking for what the problem might be. Thanks for your help.
Caterpillar Forklift Noise and Vibration
Re: Caterpillar Forklift Noise and Vibration
It sounds like you have a common problem on this Caterpillar model EC25EN electric forklift. The noise is most likely coming from the fans on the right lower side of the truck. These are the fans for the hydraulic pump. They are behind the lower right panel.
You can try to remove the panel and tighten the screws that mounts the fans, or even insulate the panel from the body of forklift. This may help for a short period of time, but it wont last. You will need to replace the fans.
Remove the 2 bolts that hold on the panel, remove the 3 screws from each fan, cut the wires and spice in the new fans. Take a pic of the wiring first so you get it wires in properly. See pic below of fans with panel removed and on the ground. The parts are not very expensive and the repair should only take about an hour. If you have a regular mechanic at your place he can do the job. No need to call out a forklift tech for this one.
