Caterpillar Electric Fork truck forks will not lower
Caterpillar Electric Fork truck forks will not lower
The forks will not go down on our Caterpillar 8k forktruck when we use the hydraulic controls. They will go up but will not go down. We called a mechanic but he will not be able to out for a few days. Needs some advice of what might be wrong with it.

Will not lower E8000-E12000 Caterpillar
No codes would be displayed on dash, but forklift will lift and will not allow forks to lower. Main cause of this would be the lowering switch located underneath the main hydraulic valve. It is a removable threaded switch that relies on the lowering rod inside the valve to open the check ball inside the housing of the lowering switch.
It has a two wire connector on it and it is easily tested. You can unplug the connector and jump the two prongs on the connector completing the lowering switch circuit. You need to sit on the seat in order to command to lower.
